Our Love Story
“Some love stories begin with a first glance. Ours began long before we realised it.”
Before We Even Knew
Kola and I had known of each other for quite some time. We were both part of the same campus fellowship, although he had graduated long before I did. He would occasionally return to campus to minister, and the last time I remember seeing him minister was at Convergence, a programme organised by MFMCF UNILAG at Prayer City in 2023.
At the time, I had no idea that this person I knew simply as someone from the fellowship would one day become my husband.
We were also friends on Instagram for the longest time. We never even spoke to each other.
Then Came 2025
Somewhere along the way, something changed. Kola became drawn to me in a way he could no longer ignore. What I didn’t know was that while I was simply going about my life, he had already begun seeking God concerning me. He reached out to my spiritual parents, sought counsel, prayed, and quietly took steps towards understanding what God might be doing.
After several prayers, conversations, and counsel, Kola eventually reached out to me and shared his intentions. And then it was my turn to seek God for myself.
Very early on, after speaking with me, Kola reached out to my parents himself. He boldly told them that he wanted to speak with them about us and that his intentions were serious. Looking back, that was one of the things that made the beginning of our story so special. He wasn’t approaching me casually; he was intentional about honouring me, my family, and the process from the very beginning.
I also sought counsel from my parents, prayed, and had several conversations as I sought to understand God’s will concerning us. We took our time to be certain that this was truly God’s leading.
Built on Faith
“Because for us, this was never just about falling in love.
We are children of faith, and we wanted our relationship to be built on God.”
And so, our journey began.
Moments Turned to Memories
What started with prayers and intentional conversations soon became something beautiful. We began to discover each other beyond the fellowship, beyond Instagram, and beyond what we had known of each other from afar.
We laughed together. We prayed together. We learnt together. We sang our hearts out at countless karaoke sessions, made memories doing the things we loved, and created moments we’ll always hold close to our hearts. And who could forget the unforgettable paintball experience? 😂
Somewhere along the way, the ordinary moments became our favourite memories.
December 2025 • The Proposal
Then, in December 2025, Kola asked me to marry him.
I said yes. 🤍
Looking back, one of the most beautiful parts of our story is knowing that God was working long before we understood what He was doing. We had crossed paths, shared spaces, followed each other online, and lived our separate lives, never knowing that our story was already being written.
What we thought were ordinary moments were actually pieces of a much bigger picture.
Today, we look back with grateful hearts, not because our journey has been perfect, but because it has been intentional, prayerful, beautiful, and full of God’s grace.
From friends to partners in love and in life…
